Gerd Ludemann – Review

By: Gerd Lüdemann

Paul’s seven authentic letters, if critically read, tell a story worthwhile to be used by a film-maker. Robert Orlando does exactly that. For one thing, he takes the scholarly results into account and in his screen gives them the place they have in Paul’s life. For another, he identifies Paul’s collection for the Jerusalem community as the focal point of his negotiations with the Jerusalem community and his missionary zeal described in learned discourses. Thus the film unfolds the personal drama of the life ex-Pharisee Paul which ends in tragedy. The story is told in such a wit that most of us will watch it without interruption from the beginning to the end… Not poetry, not fiction, but facts on history. Grips you and does not let go until the end “
